Boxing Basics for Beginners: Stance, Movement, and Punches

Boxing is a high-energy sport that requires both physical and mental skill. Whether you're looking to get in shape, improve your self-defense, or just try something new, boxing is a great option. However, if you're new to boxing, it can be overwhelming to get started. In this blog, we'll cover the basics of boxing to help you get started.

Stance:

A good stance is the foundation of good boxing. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, keep your knees slightly bent, and keep your weight evenly distributed between both feet. This will give you balance and stability, allowing you to move quickly and effectively.

Movement:

Boxing is a sport that requires quick and precise movement. Footwork is key to good boxing. Practice shuffling, side stepping, and pivoting to improve your footwork and avoid your opponent's punches.

Punches:

There are four main punches in boxing: the jab, cross, hook, and uppercut. Start with the jab and cross, then add in the hook and uppercut as you get more comfortable. Practice your punches on the heavy bag and with a partner to improve your accuracy and speed.
